Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, including the kitchen, serving area, and new additions like the salad bar and outdoor seating. However, the overview is somewhat simplistic and lacks a clear summary of the most significant changes. While the response identifies the key areas, the description is occasionally repetitive and lacks the analytical precision required for a higher band. For instance, stating 'In the center of the cafe are show no change' is a bit vague. To improve, focus on grouping the information more logically to highlight the transformation rather than listing every single detail in a mechanical fashion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression from the 'before' to the 'after' state. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'In the north of left side' or 'In the east side'. The flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'While in the middle part all tables and chairs were their'. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the lack of varied linking words and the somewhat rigid structure limit the score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'The idea illustrates' instead of 'The plan illustrates', and 'After the modernize' instead of 'After the modernization'. The student relies on basic descriptors like 'new look' and 'well organized'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise terminology related to spatial descriptions and architectural changes, such as 'relocated', 'transformed', 'expanded', or 'renovated'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('some changes is show', 'tables and chairs were their'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence construction ('In the center of the cafe are show no change'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structure, particularly the use of articles and verb tenses when describing changes.
