Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, including the extension, the addition of the outdoor seating, and the repurposing of the staff dining area. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you mention some changes, the summary is somewhat disjointed. To reach a higher band, ensure you group information logically—for instance, by focusing on structural changes versus functional changes. Additionally, some details, such as the 'barbecue' and 'salad bar' placement, are slightly confusing in their description. A more precise comparison between the 'before' and 'after' states would strengthen the response significantly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure for this task. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in focus. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'for that new entrance and exit are added'). Improving the transition between the description of the original layout and the current layout would help the reader follow the progression more smoothly. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be more refined.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the layout changes effectively. You use terms like 'redeveloped', 'recycled', and 'converted' appropriately. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'BEFOR', 'DINNING', and 'ORIGNAL', which detract from the overall quality. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'in present' instead of 'at present' or 'currently'. To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and using more precise collocations to describe spatial changes, such as 'relocated' or 'partitioned'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'THE BLUEPRINT... ILLUSTRATE', 'A NEW SEATING AREA IS INTRODUCE') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper capitalization or containing run-on structures. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate more consistent control over basic grammar, especially verb tenses and passive voice constructions, which are essential for describing processes and changes in diagrams.
