Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response identifies the main features of the cafe redesign, such as the addition of outdoor seating and the conversion of the staff room. However, the report is hampered by significant inaccuracies in describing the changes. For instance, you state the kitchen remained the same, whereas the plan shows it was relocated. Furthermore, the description of the layout is often confusing, making it difficult for the reader to visualize the changes. To improve, you should focus on clearly contrasting the 'before' and 'after' states with greater precision and ensure that your summary of the main trends is more accurate and logically structured.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical or misused, such as the awkward transition 'The cafe looks before redesign and after were with large space'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it hard to follow which part of the cafe is being discussed. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'whereas', 'subsequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one to create a more coherent overview.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'changed', 'added', and 'remained'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'The two blueprints illustrates' (subject-verb agreement) and 'Previous cafe had Staff dining rooms'. The vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You should aim to incorporate more specific vocabulary related to describing changes, such as 'relocated', 'transformed', 'expanded', or 'replaced', to demonstrate a more flexible range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('blueprints illustrates', 'toilets have been remains'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper syntax, which occasionally impedes the flow of information. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of tenses when describing changes. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms will significantly enhance the clarity of your writing.
