Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly in the middle of a sentence. While you identified some features like the barbecue service and outdoor seating, the description is fragmented and lacks a comprehensive overview of the changes. To improve, ensure you cover all major features of the diagrams and provide a complete, balanced summary. The lack of completion prevents a full analysis of the data, leading to a lower score for task coverage and development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay attempts to use paragraphing, but the structure is undermined by the incomplete nature of the text. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'While', and 'In contrast', but the flow is disrupted by the unfinished final paragraph. The logical progression is hindered because the comparison of the cafe's layout is not fully developed. To improve, focus on creating a clear introduction, a body paragraph detailing the changes, and a concluding summary, ensuring that each sentence connects logically to the next without abrupt endings.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'huge change', 'things', and 'same'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'stand bar' (likely referring to a 'serving counter' or 'bar area') and 'in partition of one room'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to describing layouts and changes, such as 'renovated', 'relocated', 'expanded', or 'transformed'. Expanding your range of descriptive nouns and verbs will help convey the information more professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'shows that how it was previously', 'what changes made by institution', 'there is a slightly change', and 'toilets area are remain same'. These errors involve incorrect word order, missing articles, and subject-verb agreement issues. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempt at a complex sentence is incomplete. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
