Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign well. You successfully identified the key changes, such as the addition of the outdoor seating, coffee bar, and salad bar, while noting what remained unchanged. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the transformation. However, to reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are precise. For instance, you mention the kitchen remained 'untouched' but then note the serving area was replaced; clarifying these nuances would improve the accuracy of your reporting. Overall, the response is well-focused and addresses the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moving further' and 'Regarding the', though these transitions are slightly repetitive and mechanical. The progression of information is generally clear, moving from general changes to specific spatial details. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'the place of the toilets is remained the same') is grammatically smooth to avoid disrupting the flow of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed description.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'renovation', 'demolished', and 'arrangements'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'north-left corner' (which is non-standard) and 'tables and chairs are covered the central', which is grammatically awkward. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help elevate your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'the place of the toilets is remained the same' (passive voice error) and 'tables and chairs are covered the central' (incorrect verb usage). Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'arragned'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
