Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response provides a basic overview of the changes, but it is incomplete. You have described the 'before' state in detail but failed to describe the 'after' state, which is a critical requirement of the task. The instructions ask you to report the main features of the redesign, yet the text cuts off abruptly before explaining how the cafe looks now. To improve, ensure you dedicate sufficient space to comparing the two plans. You should highlight the key additions, such as the new seating areas or the relocation of the entrance, rather than focusing solely on the initial layout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the logical progression is interrupted because the description of the current layout is missing. The use of cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Also' is present but somewhat mechanical. The abrupt ending of the text significantly impacts the overall coherence, as the reader is left without a conclusion or a full comparison of the two plans. To improve, ensure you have a clear plan for each paragraph before writing and check that you have fully addressed all parts of the prompt before concluding.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several spelling errors, such as 'DEMOSTRATES', 'COLLEAGE', 'CAFETARIA', 'CIRRENT', and 'RESTURANT'. These errors are frequent and distract from the quality of your writing. While you attempt to use descriptive language, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to spatial descriptions, such as 'adjacent to', 'situated in', or 'undergone significant modifications'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'THERE WERE LESS FACILITES' (should be 'fewer facilities'), 'THE ARE IS ALSO EXPANDED' (should be 'the area has also been expanded'), and 'IN FRONT OF IT WAS TWO STAFF DINING ROOMS' (should be 'were'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect capitalization. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure you proofread your work to correct basic errors in tense and article usage.
