Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the redesign, such as the transition from a single serving area to multiple stations and the addition of outdoor seating. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with specific details from the diagrams. To reach a higher band, ensure you avoid minor inaccuracies; for instance, you mentioned the kitchen remains in the same place, but the plan shows the kitchen area was actually reduced to accommodate the new salad bar. Additionally, ensure all labels are accurate, such as referring to the 'coffee bar' rather than 'coffer bar'. Overall, you covered the key changes well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group information by location. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'However' to guide the reader through the changes. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are occasional issues with referencing, such as the vague use of 'it' or 'the area'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed description. To improve, focus on varying your cohesive devices to create a more natural flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'allocated', 'redesigned', and 'occupied'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'cefeteria' (cafeteria), 'coffer' (coffee), and 'sitting' (seating). These errors are noticeable but do not impede general understanding. To achieve a higher score, you should aim for more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of key terms. Using a wider variety of descriptive verbs to explain the changes (e.g., 'transformed', 'relocated', 'expanded') would also enhance your lexical profile.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the today's plan', 'on the north-west side') and verb forms ('staff dining rooms removed' instead of 'were removed'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'kitchen remains allocated on the same place'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the information, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will help improve your score.
