Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response is significantly under the required 150-word minimum, which severely limits the ability to address the task requirements. Because the text is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, it fails to provide a comprehensive summary of the main features or make the necessary comparisons between the two plans. The overview is present but lacks the detail required to reach a higher band. To improve, you must complete the description of all changes, such as the relocation of the entrance, the addition of the sofa area, and the removal of the store room, while ensuring the response meets the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response shows a basic attempt at organization with an introduction and an overview. However, because the text is unfinished, it is impossible to evaluate the progression of ideas or the use of cohesive devices effectively. The transition between the introduction and the overview is attempted, but the lack of a body paragraph structure makes the response incoherent as a whole. To improve, ensure you have a clear structure: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and at least one or two body paragraphs detailing specific changes.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'many new things are introduced' and 'some old things are replaced' are overly simplistic and lack the precision required for an Academic Task 1 report. There is an attempt to use descriptive language, but it is not sophisticated. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to maps and plans, such as 'relocated,' 'expanded,' 'converted,' or 'installed,' and avoid vague terms like 'things.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains several grammatical errors, such as 'A college cafe was represented by the graphs given below in two different conditions as before it was rebuilt'. This is awkward and inaccurate. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and sentence structure, such as 'followed by some places remains the same'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, work on using a variety of complex sentence structures and ensure your verb tenses are consistent when describing changes between the past and the present.
