The given map depicts the information related to the refurbishment of college cafe .

Overall, the modern cafe looked more charming and elegant with some newly installed sections such as a barbecue, a salad bar as well as outdoor seating, altough, some were at exact place.

Apart from that, the bins that were near the entrance now redecorated into recycling bins.

Furthermore, a salad bar was newly added section situated at the left side and toilets which were at right side bottom and tables and chairs were at same place before and after refurbishment. Along with this, outdoor seating and a barbecue both designed outside the cafe area after the redesigning.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, including the new additions like the barbecue and salad bar, and notes the areas that remained unchanged. However, the overview is somewhat weak; it focuses on subjective descriptions like 'charming' and 'elegant' rather than summarizing the significant structural changes. The report would benefit from a more analytical approach, grouping features more logically to highlight the transformation. While all parts of the task are addressed, the description of the layout changes is occasionally confusing, such as the mention of the kitchen and serving area, which lacks clarity regarding the spatial shift.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally awkward, such as 'On the one hand' used without a corresponding 'On the other hand' structure. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly when moving between the kitchen area and the bins. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to visualize the exact changes in the layout. Improved use of linking words and clearer spatial references would enhance the flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to describe the changes, such as 'refurbishment', 'renovated', and 'redecorated'. However, there is a reliance on basic descriptors and some imprecise word choices, such as 'looked more charming' and 'at exact place'. The range is limited, and there are some minor errors in collocation and word formation. To reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to floor plans and spatial descriptions, such as 'relocated', 'partitioned', or 'adjacent to'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the kitchen', 'the salad bar') and prepositions ('at same place', 'at right side'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'where all food and drinks served before was now replaced'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. A greater focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
