Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign, such as the kitchen, seating, and new facilities. However, the description is somewhat disjointed and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While the main changes are identified, the reporting is occasionally confusing, such as the mention of 'hot meals' in the conclusion, which is not clearly linked to the visual data. To improve, ensure that the overview clearly highlights the most significant transformations (e.g., the expansion of seating and the addition of new service points) rather than listing details in a fragmented manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'moreover' and 'furthermore' used to connect unrelated ideas. The transition between the introduction, body, and conclusion is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes described. To improve, focus on using transition words that logically connect the before and after states, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus rather than a list of disparate observations.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'how it was college cafe' and 'biggest advancement is siiting place'. Spelling errors like 'modyfied' and 'siiting' also detract from the quality of the writing. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the spatial changes with precision. To reach a higher band, you should learn specific terminology for describing diagrams, such as 'relocated', 'expanded', 'converted into', and 'replaced by', and focus on accurate spelling and word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('diagrams represents'), incorrect verb tenses ('it is looks now'), and awkward sentence structures ('the serving is use as, hot meals'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is often erratic, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the correct use of prepositions when describing locations in a diagram.
