Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the cafe redesign, including the addition of new facilities like the salad bar and outdoor seating. You provided a clear overview in the introduction and compared the 'before' and 'after' states effectively. However, the description of the layout changes could be more precise. For instance, you mention the staff rooms were converted into a takeaway area and a coffee bar, but the spatial relationship between the kitchen and the new service areas could be described with more detail to fully capture the transformation. Overall, you have covered all parts of the task well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized into three paragraphs: an introduction with an overview, a description of the original layout, and a description of the renovated layout. This structure is clear and easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'Next to', which help the flow. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or missing, such as the run-on sentence in the third paragraph: '...salad bar furthermore, two rooms...'. Improving the use of punctuation and linking words would enhance the cohesion of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'renovated', 'converted', and 'setup'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'icludes' (includes) and 'is indicates' (indicates). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the information clearly, it lacks the variety and precision required for a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more descriptive adjectives or precise verbs to describe the changes, such as 'transformed', 'relocated', or 'expanded'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'These two images are indicates' (should be 'indicate') and 'The cafe before had multiple sections' (could be improved to 'The original cafe layout featured...'). Additionally, there are punctuation issues, such as missing commas after introductory phrases or before coordinating conjunctions. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of error-free complex structures.
