Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully identifies the main features of the cafe redesign, including both the static elements and the significant changes. You have provided a clear overview and highlighted key comparisons, such as the repurposing of the serving area and the addition of outdoor facilities. However, the report could be improved by being more precise with spatial descriptions; for instance, mentioning the specific layout changes in the seating area would have provided a more comprehensive summary. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task effectively, and the information is logically selected to provide a clear picture of the transformation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, moving from an overview to static features and then to the changes. You use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Contrary to this' to link your ideas. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Additionally, ensure that referencing is precise; for example, when you mention 'many amenities have been incorporated', it would be clearer to specify which ones immediately to improve the flow of information. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the redesign.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'modernization', 'repurposed', 'omitted', and 'integration'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'orignal' (original), which occur multiple times. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, there is a lack of more sophisticated or precise collocations that would elevate the response to a higher band. To improve, focus on using more varied descriptive language for spatial changes and ensure consistent accuracy in spelling common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'modernization that have been made' should be 'modernization that has been made' (subject-verb agreement), and 'outdoor seating have also been installed' should be 'has been installed'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage issues. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for small errors would significantly improve your accuracy.
