Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarise the changes, but it fails to provide a clear overview of the main trends. The description is fragmented and lacks a logical structure, focusing on specific details rather than a coherent summary of the transformation. Furthermore, the student includes subjective commentary, such as 'which are helpful of conservation of plastic' and 'to make cafe more attractive', which is not appropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. The task requires an objective summary of the visual data provided, not an evaluation of the cafe's utility or environmental impact. Consequently, the response does not fully address the requirements of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks a clear logical progression. Paragraphing is present but ineffective, as the ideas within the paragraphs are not well-linked. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In constract to' and 'Morever'. Referencing is also problematic; for example, the phrase 'the cafe and manufacture of the cafe' is confusing and does not clearly introduce the subject matter. The overall arrangement of information is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the 'before' and 'after' states effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'manufacture' used instead of 'installation' or 'layout', and 'conjested' instead of 'congested'. The student struggles with basic collocations, leading to awkward phrasing like 'siting areas' (seating) and 'take their order away'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic intent, the frequent errors and the misuse of technical-sounding words significantly hinder the precision of the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('cafe contains to manufacture'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'the cafe had a single bin as compared to after redevelopment where cafe contains to manufacture recycling bins'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While the student attempts some complex structures, they are often faulty, and the overall control of grammar is weak.
