Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the cafe redesign, such as the addition of the outdoor seating and the conversion of the staff rooms. However, the report lacks a clear overview that synthesizes the most significant changes. While you mention that 'significant changes has been added', a more effective overview would highlight the shift from a staff-focused layout to a more customer-centric one. Some details, such as the 'bin named has been rename', are slightly confusing, and the description of the kitchen area is contradictory as you state it 'remains the same' while also noting changes to the serving area. To improve, ensure your summary captures the overall transformation more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'In contrast', 'Similarly', and 'Ultimately' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when referring to specific areas of the cafe. The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving from the general changes to specific modifications, but the transitions between these points could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the changes to the cafe. You use some relevant terms like 'outdoor seating', 'recycling bin', and 'barbecue section'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'new design has been pictured' instead of 'depicted' or 'shown', and 'bin named has been rename'. There is also some repetition of basic verbs like 'remains' and 'changed'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary to describe spatial changes and avoid repetitive or non-standard collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('significant changes has been added'), incorrect verb tenses ('has alter the cafe apperance'), and missing articles or prepositions ('before there was two staff dining rooms'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential for describing changes in diagrams. Proofreading for basic tense consistency will also help.
