Overall, it can be seen that there are several changes in the design of the cafe. Salad bar, coffee bar, barbecue, hot meals and outdoor sitting area is introduced, meanwhile dining rooms for staff is demolished.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the cafe redesign effectively. You have identified the key additions, such as the barbecue and outdoor seating, and the removals, such as the staff dining rooms. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the changes. However, the report could be improved by being more precise with spatial descriptions. For example, stating that the salad bar is 'in the left side' is slightly vague. Additionally, ensure that all features mentioned in the prompt are accurately reflected; you mentioned a 'barbecue' and 'hot meals area', which are key components. Overall, the response successfully highlights the transformation of the space.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on specific details. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from the general changes to specific modifications. You use some cohesive devices like 'Turning to the details' and 'Moving to the further changes' to transition between sections. However, some of the linking is a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, which helps the reader follow the comparison between the 'before' and 'after' states of the cafe.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing for a clear description of the changes. You use relevant terms like 'demolished', 'constructed', 'remained untouched', and 'redesigning'. However, there is a lack of variety in the vocabulary used to describe spatial relationships and changes. Some word choices are slightly repetitive, and there are minor errors in collocation, such as 'in the place of serving area' which sounds unnatural. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise synonyms for 'introduced' or 'added' and use more sophisticated collocations to describe architectural changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, subject-verb agreement issues are present, such as 'Salad bar, coffee bar... is introduced' (should be 'are introduced'). There are also minor errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'in the left side' (should be 'on the left side') and 'structure of the it' (should be 'structure of it'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score as they indicate a lack of consistent control over complex structures.
