Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The student attempts to summarize the changes shown in the two maps, noting that the kitchen remains in the same position while the serving area, staff dining rooms, and bin locations have been modified, and that outdoor seating and a barbecue have been added. However, the response fails to provide a clear, structured overview of the main trends or overall changes. Several details are vague or confusingly phrased, such as 'cultivated to the two part', and the description lacks sufficient extension and precise reporting of the spatial layout comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text is divided into three short paragraphs, but the logical flow and progression are weak. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, resulting in disjointed sentences (e.g., 'On the other hand, salad bar near the another room and two different things are add.'). Paragraphing is attempted, but ideas are grouped somewhat haphazardly without clear thematic separation between the indoor and outdoor modifications, making the overall arrangement difficult to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is extremely limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic words like 'changed', 'add', and 'things'. There are numerous word-formation and collocation errors, such as 'service data areas', 'cultivated to the two part', and 'decurate the things'. These lexical inaccuracies frequently impede communication and strain the reader's understanding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very narrow, consisting mostly of simple and severely flawed sentence structures. There are persistent, basic errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and word order (e.g., 'The ideas present a college before it was redesigned', 'the cafe is not totally change', 'these are the main things to decurate'). Complex structures are rarely attempted and are invariably inaccurate.
