Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses the main features of the two diagrams. You provide a clear overall summary noting the primary transformations, such as the outdoor seating, barbecue, and salad bar additions. Key spatial relationships are correctly identified, including the retention of the kitchen and toilets, the conversion of staff dining rooms into a takeaway food counter and coffee bar, and the addition of the outdoor dining area. While a few minor descriptive details could be slightly more precise regarding exact orientations, all parts of the prompt are covered well, and the comparisons made are accurate based on the provided visual data. This meets the criteria for a solid score in Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your writing is organised into logical paragraphs, beginning with an introduction and overview, followed by specific details in body paragraphs. You use basic cohesive devices to guide the reader through the comparison, such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'Additionally'. However, paragraphing could be structured more cleanly, and some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but smoother linking words and better referencing would enhance the overall flow. Overall, the structural arrangement is coherent and easy to follow throughout the response.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for describing changes and locations, using terms like 'redesigned', 'conversion', 'recycling waste', and 'outdoor seating'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'develope for students' instead of 'developed for students', 'seat' instead of 'sit', and 'barbecue room oustide' instead of 'barbecue area outside'. While less common vocabulary is attempted, spelling and morphological errors occasionally distract the reader, keeping the lexical score at a competent level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including relative clauses and contrasting statements like 'Kitchen and toilets are two places which is not being changed.' However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors involving subject-verb agreement and verb forms, such as 'which is not being changed' (should be 'are not changed'), 'two rooms for staff to have a dining' (should be 'for staff dining'), and 'Outdoor seating is being arrange' (should be 'is arranged'). These errors occasionally disrupt the reading flow, though communication is generally maintained.
