Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the two diagrams, noting key changes such as the transformation of the staff dining rooms into a take-away area and coffee bar, the addition of a salad bar, barbecue station, outdoor seating, and recycling bins. However, the tone is informal and conversational ('if we talk about', 'we will come to know', 'At last'), which is inappropriate for an Academic task. Furthermore, there is no proper overview provided, which is a crucial requirement for Academic Task 1. The descriptions are somewhat disjointed and focus too much on a running commentary rather than an objective academic summary. This places the response in Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text lacks a standard paragraph structure and is written as one long, continuous block of text instead of being organized into logical paragraphs (such as an introduction/overview and body paragraphs). While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand'), their overuse and the lack of proper paragraphing result in a mechanical flow. The transitions feel conversational rather than structured for academic reporting. Referencing is occasionally repetitive. This corresponds to Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying on conversational phrases like 'interior designer', 'kitchen remains same', and 'lower left corner'. There are frequent inappropriate word choices and spelling errors, such as 'tiolets' instead of 'toilets', 'infont' instead of 'in front', and 'Morever'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary related to the visual data (e.g., 'alterations', 'recycling bin', 'barbecue station'), but the lexical control is limited, resulting in inaccuracies that detract from the overall quality. This fits the Band 5.0 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many are marred by grammatical errors, punctuation flaws, and awkward phrasing. Examples include run-on sentences with excessive conjunctions ('and if we take a look on bin area then we will come to know that...'), missing articles, and subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'there are some important alterations have done', 'the serving area replaced with'). Punctuation is weak, lacking proper sentence boundaries in places. Errors are frequent and can cause occasional difficulty for the reader, aligning with Band 5.0.
