Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons between the two plans. An overview is successfully presented, noting the general shift of the staff dining rooms and the addition of outdoor areas. However, some details are slightly under-developed or imprecise, such as describing the kitchen modifications, which prevents the response from achieving a higher rating. Key transformations like the removal of the staff rooms in favour of the take-away and coffee bar are clearly reported, satisfying the core requirements of this task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The report maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression from an introductory overview to specific spatial details. Paragraphing is used to separate the general summary from specific regional comparisons. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or somewhat repetitive in its transitional phrasing, such as 'Looking into the details' and 'In contrast'. Referencing between clauses is mostly clear, though occasional awkward phrasing affects the smooth flow of ideas across sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

An adequate vocabulary range is employed to describe the spatial changes, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'converted', and 'addition'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'demonestrates', 'redevlopment', 'facilite', and 'recycle bins', alongside awkward phrasing like 'major rooms is remaining same'. While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the vocabulary score, as they reveal limitations in word form and precise lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms to compare the layouts. However, there are several grammatical and structural errors, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'staff dining rooms is replaced' and 'every major rooms is remaining same', as well as prepositional and article inaccuracies such as 'in northwest' and 'table and chairs position did not changed'. These errors occur regularly alongside correct structures, but they rarely impede overall communication.
