Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task only partially and falls short of the word count requirement, coming in at 136 words instead of the minimum 150 words. While you attempt to compare the features of the college cafe before and after the redesign, such as mentioning the kitchen, serving area, and newly added features like the salad bar, barbecue, and outdoor seating, the information is presented in a limited and somewhat repetitive manner. Furthermore, the position and relationship of certain areas are unclear or inadequately developed, which reflects a restricted engagement with the visual data provided.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some organisation in the way you structure your comparison between the past and present layouts, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is rudimentary and does not guide the reader smoothly through the information. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, resulting in a disjointed flow. For instance, transitional phrases like 'whereas today Cafe area' and 'But Today cafe mentioned' are mechanically applied and fail to establish logical links between ideas, making the overall arrangement difficult to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, relying heavily on basic, repetitive terms drawn directly from the prompt, such as 'cafe', 'redesigned', 'kitchen', and 'tables and chairs'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'plane idea' instead of plain or simple, 'is make proper structure', and rooms that are 'attach' instead of attached. These errors and the restricted variety of vocabulary cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher level of lexical flexibility and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You use a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors in basic grammar, verb forms, and sentence construction. There are persistent errors in subject-verb agreement and word forms, such as 'what is changes do to cafe', 'Cafe before redesigned there were kitchen', and 'toilet is make fornt of bin'. Attempts at complex or comparative structures are often faulty, and frequent grammatical errors cause significant difficulty for the reader throughout the response.
