Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response attempts to summarize the changes between the two plans, identifying several key alterations such as the addition of the salad bar, coffee bar, and outdoor seating. However, the information presented is somewhat disjointed and lacks a fully developed overview. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the text falls short of the minimum 150-word count. To reach a higher level, you should ensure the response meets the minimum word length and provide a clearer, more structured overview that groups related changes together logically.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response shows an attempt to organize the information with an introductory comment followed by body details, but there is no clear overall progression. Paragraphing is weak, and cohesive devices are inadequate or repetitive, leading to a choppy flow. Phrases like 'In the orignal desighn' and 'Following the redesign' attempt to guide the reader, but referencing is often unclear, making it hard to follow the spatial relationships between the various features on the plans. Improving paragraph structure and using a wider range of transitional phrases will enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Words such as 'plane' instead of plan, 'collage' instead of college, 'desighn', 'tructured', and 'conveneint' impede communication. While you attempt less common items related to the diagram like 'barbecue' and 'salad bar', persistent spelling mistakes and incorrect morphological forms restrict your score in this area. Focus on accurate spelling and expanding your repertoire of descriptive vocabulary for describing visual data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Grammar and sentence structure are very restricted, relying heavily on simple clauses and faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and prepositions, such as 'the floor plane illustrate', 'add some more conveneint', and 'seatting area and add outdoor seating lock more atractive'. Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences lacking proper terminal punctuation. To improve, you need to work on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and reducing the frequency of grammatical errors that disrupt the reading process.
