Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of the college cafe before and after the redesign, and includes some comparisons such as the tables and chairs remaining in the middle. However, some areas are under-developed or lack precision. For example, the writer mentions bins and washrooms remaining in the same place, but misses specific details regarding the new salad bar placement along the western wall and the exact nature of the outdoor seating and barbecue additions. Note that eight words were copied from the prompt and excluded from the word count, though the final tally still successfully clears the minimum requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression from the original layout to the modern version. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The text suffers from run-on sentences and a lack of proper punctuation to separate distinct ideas, such as in the sentence beginning with 'Before construction, There were only minimal facilities...'. Paragraphing is attempted with a brief overview followed by body paragraphs, but referencing and linking words are basic, making the flow somewhat choppy.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items like 'reconstruction', 'facilties', and 'arrangement', but this is offset by frequent spelling errors ('blurptint', 'fodd', 'dinning', 'facalities', 'take way', 'cafetria') and word-choice slips. While communication is not severely impeded, these lexical inaccuracies prevent the score from rising higher. The range is minimally sufficient to convey the intended changes in the floor plans.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response shows a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent errors in verb tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and article usage, such as 'Overall, whole design have been changed' and 'Outside of a cafe open space sitting arrangement is made'. Punctuation is largely neglected, resulting in comma splices and run-on structures that place strain on the reader, keeping the accuracy level constrained.
