Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response makes a minimal attempt to address the prompt by mentioning features of the cafe before and after the redesign, such as the kitchen, serving area, and outdoor seating. However, the information is communicated in a very disjointed and unclear manner. Instead of presenting a well-structured summary with clear comparisons of the key alterations, the writing drifts into vague descriptions and repeats general statements about the changes without properly reporting the specific spatial transformations shown in the plans. Ideas are very limited and poorly developed, lacking an effective overview of the main trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout the response. The text is divided into awkward paragraphs, but the progression of thoughts lacks clear logical links. Transitions such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' are used, but they fail to structure the information logically because the sentences themselves are tangled and confusing. Furthermore, referencing and paragraph unity are weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow a clear storyline or comparison between the two floor plans.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and heavily reliant on lifted phrases from the prompt or task instructions, such as 'cafe bar before and after redesigned' and 'main features'. There are frequent errors in word choice, word form, and spelling—such as 'redesigned it', 'Selectingand reportigas', 'staright', 'sittingin', and 'seprate'. These lexical inadequacies and frequent spelling mistakes often strain the reader and obscure the precise meaning intended regarding the architectural changes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and the sentences are frequently malformed. There are persistent errors in basic syntax, verb forms, articles, and prepositions, as seen in expressions like 'The chart show below the information', 'the plan shows about the major changes', and 'Pupis are easily to take way food'. Complex sentences are attempted but result in heavily distorted meaning and grammatical breakdown. Punctuation is also erratic, with misplaced periods and spacing issues causing frequent disruptions to readability.
