Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the kitchen remaining in place, the serving counter becoming a hot-meals area, the staff rooms being replaced by takeaway food and a coffee bar, and the addition of outdoor seating. However, the account is only partly complete and some locations are misreported: the bin is on the eastern wall, not the left side, and the toilets are in the bottom-right corner rather than after the bin on the left. The outdoor barbecue and the new salad bar are mentioned only briefly, and there is no clear overview that groups the main changes. To strengthen the response, summarise the overall transformation first, then describe the key internal and external changes accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, moving from the original café to the redesigned one and ending with a conclusion. This gives the reader a general sense of the comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first description moves from the kitchen to staff rooms and then to the bin and toilets, but the locations become confusing, while the second paragraph combines several changes without a consistent spatial order. Linking phrases such as “In the second chart” and “Furthermore” help, but repeated “and” connections and unclear references make the account feel list-like. Organise each plan in a clear route around the building, and use concise comparisons to connect corresponding features.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “kitchen,” “staff dining rooms,” “tables and chairs,” “hot meals,” and “outdoor seating,” so the main subject is usually recognisable. However, the range is basic and several inaccurate or misspelled forms make the description less clear, such as “service are,” “garbeg,” “dinning,” and “renovating caffe.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “one more think is add” and “all the drink and food avalable.” Use precise plan vocabulary and check spelling and word forms; for example, “serving area,” “rubbish bin,” and “was added” would communicate the features more clearly. Avoid repeating “caffe” and “area” when a more specific noun is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences rely on simple present-tense statements, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty structures. For example, “In this charts shows a difference” lacks a clear subject, while “Replace with staff dinning room now take away food and coffee bar” is not a complete sentence. Articles, agreement, and verb forms are also inconsistent in phrases such as “there are one bin” and “the area name is salad bar.” Capitalisation and punctuation are irregular, with sentence boundaries missing in places. These errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to follow. Practise complete subject–verb sentences and use accurate passive forms for changes, such as “The staff dining rooms were replaced by a takeaway counter and coffee bar.”
