Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You identify the main transformation clearly: the café is modernised, new food counters are introduced, and outdoor seating is added. You also accurately report that the kitchen and toilets remain in place, the former serving area becomes a hot-meals counter, and the staff dining rooms are replaced by takeaway and coffee facilities. These points address the task and give a clear overall picture. Some details, however, are imprecise or over-generalised: “various recycling bins are added and expanded” suggests a change in number or size that the plan does not establish, and the barbecue’s position is only described as “near” the seating. More precise spatial comparisons and a fuller account of the new southern access and outdoor tables would make the report more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall progression: an opening overview is followed by comparisons between the former and current facilities. Linking expressions such as “Before the redevelopment,” “but now,” and “Also” help the reader follow the changes. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, particularly through repeated use of “also,” and several ideas are crowded into one long paragraph. The sentence beginning “The kitchen and toilets are on the same place” shifts quickly from unchanged features to bins and the barbecue, making the relationships less clear. Organise the details into separate paragraphs—for example, internal changes and outdoor additions—and use more precise referencing and transitions to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a redesigned café, including “redevelopment,” “counters,” “recycling bins,” and “outdoor seating.” This gives you enough range to communicate the main changes, but several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision and naturalness. “More modernaized” is misspelled and awkward, while “commen food serving area” is repeated and unclear; “expanded” is also not an accurate description of the recycling bins shown. “Newly introduce” and “facility” are used in ways that do not fit the sentence naturally. Aim for accurate map vocabulary and check spelling and word forms, using terms such as “former serving counter,” “additional food outlets,” and “introduced.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts with “but” and a relative clause in “which is already present in old college cafe.” The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Different food counters are newly introduce” needs a correctly formed passive verb, and “the cafe is more modernaized” has an incorrect comparative construction. Articles and prepositions are also inconsistent, as in “in the same place” and “in old college cafe.” The final sentence is long and awkwardly joined, which makes the comparison harder to follow. Practise accurate passive forms and article use, and divide longer sentences so each comparison has a clear grammatical structure.
