Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important changes, including the conversion of the staff dining rooms into takeaway and coffee facilities, the new salad bar, the hot-meals counter, recycling bins, and outdoor seating with a barbecue. However, the report is only a partial summary: it does not explain that the kitchen, central tables and chairs, and toilets remain, or describe the new southern doors and the outdoor tables. The overview is also imprecise: saying the “setting area” remains the same conflicts with the addition of outdoor seating, and “area of kitchen” is unclear. The response is 111 words, below the required 150, which limits the detail and comparisons provided. Include a fuller overview and describe the main retained and added features.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and a short paragraph describing changes. Sequencing phrases such as “Overall” and “To begin with” help signal the stages of the report. However, the progression is limited, and several changes are compressed into short statements without clear grouping or comparison. The final sentence breaks off after “outside of the cafe,” which weakens the ending, while “However” is joined directly to the preceding sentence and lacks a space. Organise the details into clearer groups—for example, changes inside the café and additions outside—and use linking phrases to show what stayed the same versus what changed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “converted,” “counter,” “recycling bins,” and “outdoor seating.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear: “pictorial chart” is not a natural description of floor plans, “reestablished” does not mean redesigned, and “property of kitchen” is difficult to understand. There are also spelling errors in “devloped” and “constucted,” and “dustbins” is awkward in “A dustbins is replaced.” Use precise plan vocabulary such as “layout,” “facilities,” “located,” and “replaced,” and check spelling and singular/plural forms. More accurate wording would make the changes easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few complex forms, such as “it is apparent that…” and “The workers dining rooms are converted…,” but most sentences use simple patterns and errors occur frequently. For example, “the area of kitchen, rest room and setting area is remain same” has problems with articles, agreement, and verb form; “A dustbins is replaced” also has a singular/plural mismatch. The tense shifts between present and past (“are converted” and “was established”) without a clear reason. Punctuation and spacing need attention too, as in “Overall,it” and “same.However.” Practise accurate past-tense descriptions of changes and present-tense statements about features that remain, then proofread each sentence for agreement and articles.
