Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
You give a clear overview of the main changes, noting that the café gained specialist counters and outdoor facilities while some features remained. The response also reports several key details accurately: the kitchen remains, the staff dining rooms became takeaway and coffee-bar areas, and the toilets stayed in place. However, there are factual inaccuracies in the layout: the original bin was on the eastern wall, not the west, and the barbecue was to the south-west of the building, not on the east side. The statement that there were “multiple recycling bins” is also unsupported; the plan labels recycling bins without specifying a number. These errors limit the precision of an otherwise well-focused summary. Include the salad bar and the new southern access doors more explicitly to make the comparison more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction, an overview, a description of the former layout, and then the present arrangement. This makes the comparison easy to follow, and phrases such as “Before the renovation” and “Presently” help signal the shift between plans. The main weakness is that some details are grouped in a way that makes spatial relationships less clear, particularly the bin’s location and the barbecue’s position. The final paragraph also packs several changes into one sequence, with “Furthermore” following a comma rather than a full stop. Use clearer grouping by area—for example, north, west, and south—and ensure each linking expression connects complete, logically related clauses.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a redesigned space, including “transformed,” “replaced,” “remained unchanged,” and “constructed.” These choices help communicate the main changes. However, spelling errors are frequent and sometimes make the text less fluent to read: “illstration,” “devlopment,” “searving,” “dinning,” “coffebar,” and “salaed” are examples. Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “all kind of foods,” “specialized counters,” and “outdoor sitting area.” Aim for accurate, conventional map-description language, such as “food and drink,” “dedicated counters,” and “outdoor seating.” Careful proofreading of spelling and word forms would make your vocabulary more reliable and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including the contrast in “Although some features have remained the same” and the comparison between the former and current layouts. However, grammatical errors occur throughout and sometimes make relationships unclear. Examples include “cafe has gone through” (missing an article), “Position of toilets have remained” (subject–verb disagreement), and “a outdoor sitting area” (incorrect article). Tense use is also inconsistent: “serving area was transformed” and “a salad bar was also constructed” describe completed changes, while the plans call for a consistent account of the present layout. Punctuation needs attention in “Furthermore” after a comma. Practise accurate articles, agreement, and consistent past/present forms while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
