Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the overall redesign and several important changes, including the new outdoor seating and barbecue, the salad bar, and the conversion of the former staff dining rooms into takeaway and coffee areas. You also note that the toilets and central seating remain. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: “keychain top in the left side” does not communicate the kitchen’s position, and the description of the serving counter is difficult to follow. The overview mentions “large” changes without specifying what became larger, which is not supported by the plan. To strengthen the response, describe the main changes precisely and distinguish them from features that stayed the same, such as the kitchen and toilets.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and descriptions of the café before and after the redesign. This gives the reader some sense of the comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is weak, and several ideas are joined in ways that make their relationships unclear. For example, the overview strings together “outdoor setting, barbecue, salad bar and change serving area” without explaining how these features relate. Repeated phrases such as “others area has similar in both time” also do not clearly identify which areas are meant. Organise the details by location or by change versus unchanged features, and use clear linking phrases to guide the comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “redesign,” “serving area,” “dining room,” “take away food,” and “recycling.” This shows some awareness of the task’s subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning difficult to recover, such as “keychain” for the kitchen, “setting” for seating, “dustbin,” and “binn.” Phrases such as “at more facility” and “dramatic lease change” are also not natural or precise in this context. Learn and reuse the labels shown on the plan, and practise common map-description terms such as “located,” “replaced,” “added,” and “remained.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You make an effort to use both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make the relationships between features hard to understand. For instance, “The figure illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “cafe had a lot of change” lacks an appropriate article and uses an unclear structure. The sentence beginning “it make stuff dining room into two separate room” contains problems with verb form, number agreement, and sentence construction. Most clauses are short or joined without clear grammatical links, so the response shows limited control of complex forms. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and basic comparison patterns, such as “The staff rooms were replaced by…” and “The toilets remained…”
