Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main transformation clearly: outdoor seating and a barbecue are added, the staff dining rooms are replaced, and the former bin becomes recycling bins. You also report several internal changes, including the hot-meals counter, takeaway food, coffee bar and salad bar. This gives the response a relevant overview and covers the key features. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the outdoor seating is outside along the southern wall, not beside the toilets, and the staff dining rooms were along the north wall rather than at the centre. The claim that the café was “expanded” is not fully explained, and the final judgement that it became “advanced” is subjective. More precise location comparisons and a fuller account of the unchanged kitchen, central seating and toilets would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs describing changes. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover” and “Finally” help signal additions, and the reader can generally follow the comparison. However, progression within the body paragraphs is not consistently clear. The second paragraph moves from outdoor seating to the barbecue and then back to bins, while the final paragraph shifts between the serving counter, staff rooms and salad bar without a clear spatial route. Some connections are also awkward, such as “At the centre” before describing rooms that were along the north wall. Grouping changes by location or by what was replaced, and using clearer references to the before and current plans, would make the organisation more coherent and less list-like.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of task-related vocabulary, including “addition,” “replaced,” “outdoor seating,” “recycling bins” and “serving area,” which helps communicate the main changes. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “isolated staff dining rooms” and “a beneficial step towards the environment,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural. “Barbecue session” does not describe a place on a plan, and “advanced cafe” is an imprecise evaluation rather than a neutral description. Spelling errors are noticeable, including “potrays,” “varities,” “exapnded” and “recyclling,” and several phrases are repetitive or awkward. Aim for precise map vocabulary and check spelling carefully; the suggested alternatives below offer practical replacements.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which provides more space” and a comparison using “than previously.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “A glance at the maps reveal” has subject–verb disagreement, while “The serving area … has limited to serve” has an incorrect verb construction. Articles and prepositions are also sometimes missing or inaccurate, as in “addition of outdoor dining area” and “beside toilets.” Sentence boundaries and spacing need attention, particularly where full stops run directly into the next sentence. Practise accurate agreement, articles and verb patterns, then proofread punctuation. More controlled complex sentences would help you express the comparisons clearly.
