Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two plans as a before-and-after comparison and mention some relevant changes, including the kitchen remaining, a salad bar being added, and outdoor seating and a barbecue. However, the account is very incomplete: key changes such as the take-away food and coffee bar replacing the staff rooms, recycling bins replacing the bin, and new southern doors are omitted. Some locations are also inaccurate or unclear; the kitchen is in the north-west, not the centre, and the barbecue is south-west of the building, not near the salad bar. The overview, “many new facilities are add,” is too general to summarise the main pattern. The response is 136 words, below the required 150, which further limits the detail provided. Develop a clear overview and report the main changes accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: it begins with an introduction, describes the earlier plan, then turns to the current café and ends with an overall statement. This gives the reader some sense of a before-and-after comparison. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several features are combined in unclear sentences, such as “in the middel of area were two staff rooms for teachers and table and chairs for them.” The repeated “However” does not show a clear contrast in both places, and “overall” introduces a conclusion that largely repeats the general claim about new facilities. Use one paragraph for the original layout and one for the changes, and connect each feature with clear location-based sequencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to describing plans, including “serving area,” “staff rooms,” “salad bar,” “barbecue,” and “outsi[e]d,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is basic and several spelling and word-choice errors make the description hard to understand, for example “colllge,” “pracent,” “kitchan,” “fasalitis,” and “remiend.” Some phrases are also imprecise: “many chairs for student in the outsied” does not clearly describe the outdoor seating area, and “all kind of food and drinks” is not an accurate label for the former serving area. Learn and check key plan vocabulary, and use precise terms such as “located,” “replaced,” and “outdoor seating” to describe changes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to form longer sentences and use contrast, for example “However, there are many changes of cafe area,” but control is limited and errors occur throughout. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “The map give” and “new fasalitis are add”; past and present forms are also confused in the descriptions of the two plans. Articles and sentence construction are often missing or faulty, as in “kitchan was stablished in the canter” and “in the middel of area were two staff rooms.” Punctuation and spacing problems, including “However ,” and “area .kitchan,” add to the difficulty. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
