Student answer (Band 5.0)
The provided image is a college cafe that gives the information about redesigned structures.
To begin with, the before cafe was too conjusted where the kitchen was also situated in a small particular area and the staff dining rooms was also quite small and while talking about cafe today, the structure is quite nice and it has good kitchen and has many space between food and coffee bar. while talking about area also recent cafe has large area with good designs where as before cafe was quite hard for many people. while talkling about outdoor seating and barbecue, the before cafe doesnot include these space where as, the recent cafe have large space along with it can handle a large group of customers.
Further more, in the left side it has salad bar and in middle it include large space of tables and chairs and second design is more claasy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad contrast between the earlier café and the redesigned one, including the new outdoor seating and barbecue, the salad bar, and the central tables and chairs. These are relevant features, and the comparison that the earlier plan lacked outdoor facilities is accurate. However, the response focuses heavily on subjective claims such as the old café being “too conjusted” and the new one having “good designs,” rather than clearly reporting the main changes shown. Several important details are omitted or unclear, including the replacement of the staff dining rooms with takeaway and coffee areas, the hot-meals counter, and the recycling bins. A clearer overview of what changed and what remained would make the report more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some attempt to organise the response through phrases such as “To begin with” and “Further more,” and the reader can recognise that you are comparing the café before and after redesign. However, the ideas do not progress in a clear order: the first long section moves between the kitchen, staff rooms, general space, and outdoor facilities, while the final sentence introduces the salad bar and seating without a clear link to the earlier points. Repeated transitions such as “while talking about” also make the writing sound mechanical, and the single-paragraph presentation limits the organisation. Group the changes into a brief overview and focused comparisons of indoor and outdoor features, using clear references to each plan.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the plans, including “kitchen,” “staff dining rooms,” “salad bar,” “tables and chairs,” “outdoor seating,” and “barbecue.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the features being compared. However, the range is limited, and several expressions are imprecise or informal for an IELTS plan description, such as “good designs,” “large space,” and “hard for many people.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “conjusted,” “talkling,” “claasy,” and “doesnot,” which reduce clarity and control. Aim for precise terms such as “was replaced by,” “remained unchanged,” and “was added,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but these structures are often difficult to follow. For example, “the staff dining rooms was also quite small and while talking about cafe today” combines clauses without a clear grammatical structure, and “the recent cafe have large space” has errors in subject–verb agreement and article use. Tense and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, particularly in the long opening paragraph, where several ideas run together. The basic meaning is usually recoverable, but these recurring errors can make relationships between features unclear. Practise writing shorter, complete comparison sentences, then add controlled complex forms such as “whereas” and “while”; check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
