Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main transformation: the former staff dining rooms become takeaway and coffee facilities, and new outdoor seating with a barbecue is added. You also note the change from a general serving area to hot meals and the addition of a salad bar and recycling bins. These are relevant comparisons and give the response a clear overall focus. However, some important details are unclear or missing: the toilets and central seating area remain, and the new outdoor area is reached through doors in the southern wall. The overview repeats the additions rather than clearly contrasting the main changes with features that stayed the same. Develop the comparison more precisely and avoid vague claims such as “many more advance and improvise facilities.”

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs comparing the old and current café. This helps the reader follow the broad before-and-after account. However, progression within the paragraphs is weakened by repeated linking and listing, especially “also” and “major,” and the final paragraph repeats the conversion of the staff dining rooms already mentioned earlier. Some references are also unclear, as in “their is only one dusbin is their,” which makes the intended point difficult to follow. Group changes more systematically—for example, interior service areas, retained facilities, and outdoor additions—and use clear references such as “the former staff dining rooms” to reduce repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use several task-relevant terms, including “kitchen,” “serving area,” “staff dining room,” “salad bar,” “recycling bins,” and “outdoor seating,” so the reader can identify many of the features being compared. However, vocabulary control is limited by repeated general words such as “added” and “major,” and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make the description less clear: “redevlpoment,” “dusbin,” “take awat,” and “improvise facilities.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “different staff dinning room is provided” and “with including the outdoor seating.” Use the labels from the plan accurately and choose precise verbs such as “replaced,” “retained,” and “introduced” to describe the changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, including “the kitchen only provides a hot meals” and the sentence beginning “since then,” which shows an effort to connect several changes. However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent. Examples include “cafe is goes,” “their is,” “the kitchen only provides a hot meals,” and “the old staff dinning room is converterd,” where verb forms, agreement, articles, or sentence construction are inaccurate. Several long sentences join multiple ideas without clear grammatical boundaries, making relationships between changes harder to follow. Build accuracy with short, complete sentences first, then add controlled clauses: for example, “The kitchen now serves hot meals, while a salad bar has been added along the western wall.”
