Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You give a relevant overview of the main transformation, noting the new outdoor seating and the replacement of the staff dining rooms with takeaway and coffee facilities. You also correctly identify that the kitchen and toilets remain in place. However, some important details are either omitted or unclear: the salad bar and recycling bins are not mentioned, and the barbecue has not remained unchanged—it is a new feature. The description of the toilet as being in the “lower right corner” is accurate, but the kitchen is in the upper-left, not the lower-right. To strengthen the report, describe the main changes more precisely and compare the former serving area with the new hot-meal counter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the former and current layouts. This gives the reader a logical route through the comparison, and linking expressions such as “Before the redesign” and “Following the redesign” help signal the time sequence. The overview also brings related changes together. Some connections are less smooth, however: “Meanwhile” does not clearly link the kitchen and toilets, and the final sentence combines the outdoor seating with an inaccurate claim about the barbecue. Punctuation spacing and sentence boundaries also interrupt the flow. More precise links between each change and its location would make the progression more consistently clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a suitable range of vocabulary for describing a plan, including “layout,” “situated,” “occupied,” “replaced,” and “constructed.” These choices help communicate the main changes, and the reader can generally understand your meaning. There are, however, several spelling and word-choice problems, such as “outdooe,” “facilites,” “seperate,” and “remaind.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural: “a major outdoor seating” and “a spot for hot meals are added” do not describe the features accurately or idiomatically. Aim for precise plan vocabulary and check spelling and countability, for example, “an outdoor seating area” and “a hot-meal counter.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex structures, including contrasts with “whereas” and a relative clause beginning “where.” Most of the intended meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Several new food and drink facilities added” needs a verb, while “the kitchen area and toilet remained” has inconsistent agreement and tense. In “a spot for hot meals are added,” the singular subject does not agree with “are,” and “the two dining area” needs a plural noun. The clause “whereas, along the kitchen area” is also punctuated and structured awkwardly. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries to improve accuracy.
