Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the new salad bar, the hot-meal counter, recycling bins, and outdoor seating with a barbecue. You also note that the toilets and central tables and chairs remain. However, the account is not consistently accurate: the outdoor area has four tables, not five, and the café already had an entrance on the eastern wall, so saying there was “no entrance area” is incorrect. The overview is also limited; describing the building as “totally different” does not clearly summarise the main pattern of change. Explain that the former staff dining rooms were replaced by takeaway and coffee facilities, and distinguish retained features from additions and changes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic before-and-after structure, signalled by “THE PREVIOUS DESIGN” and “ON THE OTHER HAND,” and it groups several current features together. This gives the reader a general sense of comparison. However, most information is packed into two long blocks, with little clear paragraphing or progression from an overview to specific changes. “Moreover” is repeated several times, while transitions such as “in between east and north” make the locations difficult to follow. Organise the report into a short overview and separate paragraphs for internal changes and outdoor additions. Use precise links such as “whereas,” “in addition,” and “by contrast,” and make sure each sentence presents one clearly connected set of features.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant plan vocabulary, including “recycling bins,” “salad bar,” “coffee bar,” and “barbecue,” so the reader can identify many of the facilities. However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings reduce clarity: “out door setting” should be “outdoor seating,” “interance” should be “entrance,” and “niw” appears to mean “now.” Phrases such as “area also increase” and “totally different” are imprecise for describing a plan. Aim for accurate location and change language, for example “was replaced by,” “remained in the same position,” and “was added along the southern wall.” Check spelling and use standard collocations consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect ideas with longer sentences, but control is weak and errors often make relationships unclear. For example, “the previous design of cafe was too simple and only had two room” has article, agreement, and plural problems; “the serving area which was in previous cafe now that area the use as for hot meals” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Tense and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “now a day cafe building is totally different from previous one.” Use the past simple for the former plan and the present simple for the current one, with complete sentences such as “The former serving counter now provides hot meals.” Practise articles, plural nouns, and punctuation, and avoid joining many points into one sentence.
