Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover the main changes and provide a clear overview: the former staff dining rooms become takeaway and coffee facilities, while the kitchen, central seating and toilets remain. You also identify the new salad bar, outdoor seating and barbecue. This gives the response a solid account of the redesign. Some details, however, are unclear or inaccurate: the entrance and exit were already on the eastern wall, rather than being added there, and the new doors are on the southern wall, leading to outdoor seating. The description of the barbecue and outdoor area is also less precise than the indoor changes. To strengthen the report further, compare the locations more carefully and distinguish what was retained from what was newly introduced.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of the western and northern areas and then the outdoor changes. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Starting from the west side,” and “Furthermore” help signal this progression. However, the organisation is not always easy to follow because several changes are packed into long sentences, and some references are ambiguous—for example, “with addition to entrance & exit in the same area to the south side” makes the location and status of the doors difficult to understand. The final sentence also combines the barbecue, outdoor seating and furniture without a clear sequence. Use shorter, location-based sentences and group the indoor and outdoor changes distinctly.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for describing a redesigned space, including “transformed,” “redeveloped,” “remain unchanged,” and “individual gates.” These choices help communicate both change and continuity. Some wording is imprecise or unnatural, however: “single gate” and “individual gates” are not the clearest terms for the doors shown, while “with addition to” and “consist lot of chairs and tables” are awkward expressions. There are also spelling and form errors, such as “dinning” and “recycle bins.” Aim for accurate plan-description collocations and consistent labels from the diagram, such as “entrance,” “doorways,” and “recycling bins.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex structures, including the overview sentence beginning “Overall” and the contrast in “while kitchen, tables and chairs, toilets remain unchanged.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening has subject–verb disagreement in “The two maps illustrates,” and the overview has agreement problems in “staff dinning rooms has been replaced.” Articles and sentence construction also need attention: “with addition to salad bar” lacks appropriate articles, and “which consist lot of chairs and tables” is not correctly formed. Punctuation around the ampersands and long clauses also makes some sentences harder to read. Check agreement, articles and clause boundaries when editing.
