Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You give a clear overview of the main changes: the kitchen and toilets remain in place, while the former staff rooms become food-service areas and outdoor seating is added. Most details match the plans, including the new salad bar and recycling bins. This covers the task well and shows some of the precision expected at a higher level. However, a few points are unclear or incomplete: “an barbecue counter” does not accurately identify the barbecue area, and the outdoor seating is not described as having four tables. The claim that seating capacity increased is plausible but not directly established by the plan. More precise descriptions of the new facilities and their locations would make the report more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction and overview are followed by separate paragraphs describing the cafe before and after the redesign. This makes the comparison easy to follow, and phrases such as “Before the redesign” and “After the renovation” provide useful signposting. Cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear, however. The opening overview strings several changes together, and “While to staff dining room is a separate place” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence. Some ideas are also crowded into long sentences, particularly the final sentence, which combines the bins, entrance and toilets. Use clearer sentence boundaries and link related changes more deliberately to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “serving area,” “staff dining rooms,” “recycling bins” and “outdoor seating,” and the reader can generally understand the changes. There are also attempts at more formal wording, such as “undergoing modernisation” and “converted into.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “sitting capacity” is less suitable than “seating capacity,” “an barbecue counter” mislabels the barbecue area, and “newly built” is redundant after “new.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “enterance” and “recycle bin” also reduce precision. Aim for concise, conventional map-description phrases and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the sequence of past and present descriptions is generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “Kitchen at the same place” is a sentence fragment, while “Tables and chairs were remained unchanged” uses an incorrect passive construction. There are also agreement and article problems in “the hot meals … and recycle bin was re-organised” and “an barbecue counter.” The clause beginning “While” is incomplete, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Practise complete clauses, subject–verb agreement, articles and passive forms; these corrections would make your comparisons more accurate and fluent.
