Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You provide a clear overview of the main changes, noting that the kitchen, seating area and toilets remain, while new food facilities and outdoor seating have been added. Most details match the plans, including the former serving area becoming a hot-meals counter and the bin being replaced by recycling bins. This covers the task well, and the overview shows the key contrast. However, some features are only listed rather than compared or located precisely: for example, the two staff dining rooms are mentioned, but their replacement by the takeaway and coffee-bar sections could be made explicit. The outdoor arrangement and the new southern doors are also not described. More precise coverage of these details would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the former and current layouts. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the comparison. The contrast marker “While” helps signal the move to the present plan, and the main features are grouped sensibly. However, connections between details are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “Overall” contains a long list, while the final paragraph repeats that the kitchen and toilets are unchanged. Some transitions also need clearer punctuation, as in “cafe.However”. Organising the body by areas of the plan, and linking each former feature directly to its replacement, would improve progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a café plan, including “serving area”, “takeaway”, “coffee bar”, “salad bar” and “recycling bin”. These terms make the main changes understandable, and there is some useful variation in how you refer to the two layouts. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or awkward, such as “tables and chairs dinning hall” and “the cafe have an outside seating”. Spelling and word-form errors, including “dinning” and “out door”, also reduce accuracy. Aim for concise plan-description language and use standard forms consistently; this would make the account more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentences, including the contrast introduced by “While” and the overview sentence listing what has changed. However, grammatical control is uneven, with errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “The two diagrams illustrates” should use a plural verb, and “the cafe have” should agree with the singular subject. Articles are missing in “In the past layout, cafe had a kitchen”, while “toilets having door” is not a complete, well-formed clause. There are also punctuation problems, such as the missing space after the full stop in “cafe.However”. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build comparisons with controlled clauses.
