Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant changes, including the kitchen remaining in place, the serving counter becoming a hot-meals counter, the staff dining rooms being replaced by takeaway food and a coffee bar, and the addition of a salad bar and outdoor seating. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it gives no clear overall overview of the main transformation and omits important details such as the recycling bins and the barbecue’s position beside the outdoor seating. Some locations are also unclear or inaccurate: the barbecue is described as being in the “left corner,” rather than immediately outside to the south-west. A clearer overview followed by accurate, selected comparisons would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response follows a basic before-and-after sequence, and phrases such as “before” and “after design” help signal comparison. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the progression is difficult to follow: the description moves from the kitchen to the staff rooms, then to the right side, and later back to the left without a consistent route through the plans. Repeated wording such as “there is no change” and “after design” also makes the links mechanical. Group the information into an overview and a paragraph on internal changes, followed by one on additions outside. Use clear location-based transitions to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-relevant terms, including “serving area,” “staff dining room,” “main hall,” and “outdoor seating,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and spelling errors such as “kicthen,” “coffe,” “corener,” and “desgin” reduce clarity. Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “the cafe on the same place” and “there is some extension.” Use more precise language for changes and locations, and check spelling carefully. A wider set of accurate terms such as “remained,” “was replaced by,” and “was added” would help describe the plans more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Most sentences rely on short, simple patterns, and frequent errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to understand. For example, “The cafe on the same place before and the after” has no complete verb structure, while “Some changes in the staff dining room” is a fragment. Tense and sentence formation are also inconsistent in “before where situated staff dining room after design there is a take away food and coffe bar.” Articles and prepositions are often missing or awkward, as in “in the left side of the main hall.” Practise complete past-tense sentences for the former plan and present-tense sentences for the current plan, using accurate connectors to compare them.
