Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad comparison that the café’s basic structure remains similar while its facilities have changed, and you mention several relevant features, including the hot-meal counter, coffee bar, take-away area, toilets and outdoor seating. However, important changes are omitted or unclear: the salad bar, recycling bins, and the new doors to the outdoor area are not reported. Some details are inaccurate: the old dining rooms each had four chairs, not five, and the outdoor area has four tables rather than “almost five”; the barbecue is beside the outdoor seating, not an area with tables placed on it. The overview also refers to “positive reviews,” which the plans do not show. Select the main changes accurately and describe their locations more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction and overview are followed by descriptions of the former and current café. This gives the reader some sense of comparison, particularly through “On the other hand.” However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow. Directions such as “going staright and turn right” do not clearly map the layout, and “Then after” and “In additionally” are awkward or inaccurate links. The overview also combines unrelated points, including the building structure, “community” factors and reviews. Organise the details by area or by what changed, and use clear links such as “In the former layout” and “In the redesigned café” to make the comparison easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to describing plans, including “reshaped,” “dining rooms,” “serving area” and “situated,” and you use some terms that distinguish the two layouts. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “the proportion of How looked old cafe,” “community, asthetical and functionals factors,” and “taking the positive reviews.” Spelling errors, including “staright,” “dinning” and “coffe,” also reduce accuracy. Use precise plan-description language and check word forms and spelling. For example, describe facilities as being “added,” “replaced” or “relocated,” and use “layout” rather than “proportion” when discussing a floor plan.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. The opening, “The plans illustrates the proportion of How looked old cafe,” has problems with subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence construction. Other examples include “its building structure almost same,” “two dinning rooms one table and five chairs,” and “almost five tables is placed,” where missing verbs or incorrect agreement obscure the intended meaning. Tense and passive forms also need attention: “dinning rooms transfered” should describe what happened using a correctly formed passive. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals and agreement.
