Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several genuine changes, including the replacement of the staff dining rooms with takeaway food and a coffee bar, the new hot-meal counter, recycling bins, and outdoor seating. However, the response is substantially under the required length: it contains 108 words, with 8 words copied from the prompt excluded. This limits how fully you can summarise the plans. The overview that the café became “more bigger” and “modern” is vague and partly subjective; a stronger overview would identify the main spatial changes, especially the new outdoor area and added food-service facilities. You also omit important details such as the salad bar’s position, the unchanged kitchen and toilets, and the barbecue’s location. Develop the comparisons with accurate locations and a clearer overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
Your response has a basic sequence: an introduction, an overall statement, and a paragraph listing changes. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “in addition” and “furthermore” show an attempt to connect points. However, the progression is limited because several changes are compressed into one paragraph, followed by a repeated concluding idea that the café is modern. Some linking is awkward or unclear, particularly “Moreover there are outdoor seating was added,” which makes the relationship between the ideas difficult to follow. Group the changes by area—for example, the north and service areas, then the main room and exterior—and use clear comparisons such as “whereas” or “while.” This would create a more coherent account rather than a list.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the plans, including “staff dining rooms,” “serving area,” “recycling bins,” and “outdoor seating.” These terms help communicate the main changes. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unsuitable for an objective map description: “more bigger,” “uppgraded,” “in the tast,” and “more picturesque.” “Picturesque” is subjective and does not describe a functional change shown in the plans. Spelling errors such as “furthrmore” also reduce clarity. Aim for precise, neutral language and vary the verbs used to report changes, such as “was replaced by,” “was converted into,” and “was added.” Check spelling and use standard forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response relies mainly on short, simple statements and shows an attempt to use longer structures, but these are often inaccurate. For example, “to began with the two staff dining rooms, was removed” has an incorrect verb form and lacks a clear subject; “the serving area … it no longer existed and replaced with hot meals” combines sentence patterns incorrectly and omits necessary verb forms. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction in “today café there is also an added of salad bar” and “there are outdoor seating was added.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to understand. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent past-tense passive forms to describe changes, such as “The rooms were replaced by…”
