Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You give a clear overview of the main changes, identifying the new outdoor seating, barbecue and salad bar, the replacement of the serving counter, and the continued presence of the toilets and central seating. These points address the task and are generally grounded in the plans. You also compare the former staff dining rooms with the new takeaway and coffee-bar facilities. Some details, however, are imprecise: the salad bar is on the western wall, not specifically “in the south west of the kitchen,” and the recycling bins are plural. The statement that the “main entrance” remained the same is not clearly supported, since the plans show new southern doors as well as the existing eastern entrance. More precise location descriptions would strengthen an otherwise clear account.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs describing specific changes. This gives the reader a coherent route through the comparison, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Furthermore” and “However” help signal relationships between points. The progression is not always smooth, though: the final paragraph returns to features already mentioned, and “However” introduces information that is not really in contrast with the preceding sentence. Some sentences also run together because of missing spaces after full stops, while the final comma leaves the ending feeling unfinished. Grouping changes by location or by what was retained versus added, and using transitions only where the relationship is clear, would make cohesion more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for describing a redesigned space, including “renovation,” “replaced,” “facilities,” and “enhance.” The response also attempts more specific expressions such as “outdoor sitting” and “overall infrastructure,” showing some flexibility. However, several spelling errors—“infrasturcture,” “dinning,” “enterance” and “occuped”—reduce accuracy. Some choices are also less natural or precise for a plan description: “outdoor sitting” is better expressed as “outdoor seating,” and “a place for keeping hot meals” is wordier than “a hot-meal counter.” “The main staff dining area” is also inaccurate because the original plan shows two rooms. More consistent, precise collocations would improve the description.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which was initially occupied by staff dinning rooms” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. In the overview, “various new facilities is being added” has a subject–verb agreement problem and an unsuitable verb form; use “various new facilities have been added.” The phrase “replaced by hot meals along with coffee bar and takeaway” needs clearer articles and sentence structure. There are also punctuation issues, including missing spaces after full stops and a comma at the end of the response. Checking agreement, articles and sentence boundaries would improve control while preserving your range.
