The two maps depict a college cafe before it was renovated and how it looks now.
Overall,it can be seen that several new sections are added and the total area of Cafe is extented to the outdoor also.
Before Renovation, the college cafe formed a clean L shaped layout .In which ,the kitchen was at the northen side attached to serving area (all food & drink) area. After that there was a large sitting area for the costumers ,contained multiple tables and chairs .On the northern middle of the dining hall ,there were two attched room for staff dining .There were toilets at the southern east corner of the hall.Above that there was a bin for the cafe's use.
In contrast, the overall area of the cafe is extented and multiple new sections are added. The kitchen area remains unchanged while serving area is transformed to the hot meals section. The size of the hall remains the same but new counters are added .Salad bar is added to the west of the hall and the staff dining rooms are transformed into take away food section and coffee bar.Conversely, the toilets remain on the same place while bin is replaced by recycling bins. The cafe provides outdoor seating for the customers at the northern side and a new barbecue counter is added to the west head of the outdoor seating area.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover the main before-and-after changes and give an overview that the café has gained new sections and outdoor space. Several comparisons are accurate: the kitchen and toilets remain, the serving counter becomes a hot-meals section, and the staff rooms are replaced by takeaway and coffee facilities. This gives the response a clear account of the redesign. Some details, however, are unclear or inaccurate: the outdoor seating is to the south, not the north, and the barbecue is southwest of it rather than simply at its “west head.” The description of the original L-shaped layout and the unchanged hall size is also not clearly supported by the plan. To strengthen the report, describe the new southern access and outdoor arrangement precisely and avoid claims about size or shape unless they are evident.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a sensible overall progression: an introduction and overview are followed by the original layout and then the redesigned café. This makes the comparison easy to follow, and phrases such as “In contrast” help signal the shift between plans. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical or imprecise: “After that” suggests a sequence in time within the original plan, while “Conversely” does not express a clear contrast between the toilets and bins. Some sentences also combine several changes, making the relationships between them less clear. Use more precise spatial links such as “along the western wall” and “to the south,” and divide the final paragraph into shorter units so each change is presented in a clear order.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “serving area,” “staff dining,” “recycling bins,” and “outdoor seating,” and the reader can generally understand the changes. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the description less precise. Examples include “extent(ed),” “northen,” “costumers,” and “attched”; “sitting area” is also less suitable than “seating area” in this context. Phrases such as “west head” and “cafe’s use” are awkward or unclear. Aim for accurate, conventional map-description vocabulary and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for location and function would help you report the plan’s features with greater clarity and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex structures, including “while” clauses and the contrast between what remains and what changes. The main meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Overall,it can be seen” has faulty spacing and punctuation, and “the overall area … is extented” uses an incorrect verb form and tense. “There were two attched room” also has errors in number and sentence construction, while “the toilets remain on the same place” uses an incorrect preposition. Several sentences have missing spaces after full stops or commas. Review past-tense forms for the former plan, plural agreement, articles, and punctuation; these corrections would make your varied sentence attempts more accurate.
