The two maps illustrate how a cafe changed and redesigned and what new things and facilities are added.

Overall, the cafe gone through significant changes many original features being removed or replaced and new facilities also added to cafe.

The central area of cafe almost remained same with some new additions like salad bar introduced at the west side of central area and and the space of bin also been expanded significantly, compared to previous design two rooms allocated for staff dining were converted in to take away food room and cafe bar additional two doors were also constructed at southern side of cafe one door beside the toilet and one is located next to barbeque area.

On the outskirts of the cafe an outdoor seating also introduced and there barbecue section also included. While the kitchen remained same without any changes, however the space of serving area used to serve food and drinks developed into hot meal area.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You identify the main overall pattern: the café’s central seating area and kitchen remain, while facilities are repurposed and outdoor seating and a barbecue are added. You also report several relevant changes, including the staff rooms becoming takeaway and coffee-bar sections and the serving counter becoming a hot-meals area. This gives the reader a clear account of the redesign. However, some details are inaccurate or imprecise: the bin is replaced by recycling bins, not significantly expanded, and the new southern doors lead to outdoor seating rather than being described as one beside the toilet and one beside the barbecue. The salad bar is on the western wall, not simply the west side of the central area. More precise comparisons would strengthen an otherwise relevant summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable progression: an introduction and overview are followed by changes inside the café and then the outdoor additions. This overall arrangement helps the reader follow the comparison. However, the body is compressed into two long sentences, so several changes run together, particularly the staff-room conversion, new doors and outdoor facilities. Linking words such as “while” and “however” are used, but the relationship between ideas is not always clear; for example, “While the kitchen remained same … however” combines two contrasting linkers awkwardly. Divide the information into clearer sentences or paragraphs and group related interior and exterior changes. This would make the cohesion less mechanical and the sequence easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “facilities,” “allocated,” “converted,” “outskirts,” and “introduced,” and the reader can generally understand the changes being described. There are also attempts to use more specific terms such as “take away food” and “barbeque.” However, some choices are imprecise or unnatural: “the space of bin … expanded” does not describe the replacement by recycling bins, and “cafe bar” is less accurate than “coffee bar.” Phrases such as “new things” and “changed and redesigned” are also vague or repetitive. Aim for precise plan labels and natural collocations, such as “was replaced by” or “an outdoor seating area was added.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex structures, including the overview sentence and the contrast introduced by “While the kitchen remained same.” However, grammatical errors occur across the response and sometimes make relationships between changes difficult to follow. Examples include “the cafe gone through,” which needs a finite verb (“has undergone”), “the central area … remained same,” which needs “the same,” and “two rooms … were converted in to,” where the preposition should be “into.” The long sentence beginning “The central area of cafe…” also lacks clear sentence boundaries and contains repeated “and.” Work on articles, verb forms and sentence punctuation, and break complex descriptions into shorter, controlled sentences.
