Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main idea that several features stayed in place while the food facilities changed, and you mention additions such as the salad bar and barbecue. However, the account is only partial and some key details are missing or unclear. For example, the staff dining rooms were replaced by takeaway food and a coffee bar, but this change is not accurately described; the new outdoor seating and its four tables are also not explained. There are location errors: the original bin was on the eastern wall, not to the left of the entrance, and the staff dining rooms were along the top wall, not on the right. To strengthen the report, give a clear overview and compare the main changes accurately, including the new southern access and outdoor area.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to a description of the original café and then the redesigned one. This gives the reader some sense of sequence. However, progression becomes difficult to follow in the final paragraph, which ends mid-description with “one is the ned,” and several details are joined in long, awkward sequences. Phrases such as “followed by” are repeated without always making the spatial relationship clear. Use separate, focused paragraphs for the overview, the original plan and the current plan, and organise each description by area—for example, north, centre and south. Clearer linking and complete sentences would make the comparisons easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “construction,” “serving area,” “tables and chairs,” “toilets” and “salad bar,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the layout harder to understand. “Staff dinning rooms” is misspelled, while “the number of bins” is an imprecise way to describe the recycling bins. “Barbecue system” is also an unnatural label for the area shown. Aim for precise plan-description vocabulary such as “was replaced by,” “along the eastern wall” and “outdoor seating area.” Check spelling and use the labels shown in the plan where possible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer structures, including “Overall, Kitchen, toilets and tables and chairs remain in the same place, while…” and “The staff dinning rooms are on the right side…, with the doors opening…”. However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. The opening lacks a finite verb (“The cafe… undergone”), and tense and agreement are inconsistent: “the tables and chairs is remained” and “the serving area are.” Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “Before redesigned cafe” and the run-on opening sentence. The final sentence is incomplete. Use past tense for the former plan and present tense for the current one, and check each sentence for a clear subject, verb and complete ending.
