Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the broad purpose of the redesign and report several key changes, including the new hot-meals counter, coffee bar and takeaway area, salad bar, recycling bins, and outdoor seating with a barbecue. The overview that the café now offers more distinct food and drink facilities is relevant. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the salad bar is on the western wall, not the east side, and the plan does not show that the outdoor seating is broader than the previous indoor area. The claim that the barbecue will prevent smoke irritation is an unsupported explanation. You also omit useful changes such as the two new southern doors and the toilets remaining in place. This covers the main task, but some features need more precise reporting and comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable progression: it introduces the plans, describes changes to food facilities, then discusses outdoor seating and gives a concluding overview. Paragraphing helps separate these stages, and linking expressions such as “whereas” and “Consequently” show attempts to connect ideas. At times, however, the links are mechanical or the reference is unclear. For example, “the previous plan there were only one serving area and dining area” is difficult to follow, while “where dining area was, previously” does not clearly identify the former staff dining rooms. The final paragraph shifts from describing the plans to predicting benefits such as avoiding queues and helping workers relax. Keep the report focused on spatial changes and use clearer references between old and new features.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing a redesign, including “layout,” “divided,” “included,” and “distinct spaces.” Some less common expressions, such as “smoke irritation,” show an attempt to be precise, although this is not supported by the plan. Several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise: “recycle bin area” is not a natural description of the labelled recycling bins, and “outdoor setting arrangements” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “rennovation,” “Stitting,” and “accomodate” also reduce accuracy. Aim for straightforward, map-specific language and check spelling; precise terms such as “western wall,” “former staff dining rooms,” and “outdoor seating area” would make the description clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “whereas” and a result clause beginning “Consequently.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to understand. Examples include “there were only one serving area,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “New plan include barbecue place,” which needs an article and a correctly inflected verb. Articles and sentence boundaries are also often missing, as in “layout of cafe” and the run-on sequence “present time. There are.” Some longer constructions, such as “which make cafe more modern and offers great services,” have faulty agreement. Practise accurate articles, agreement, and punctuation in short sentences before combining them into complex structures.
