Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the before-and-after comparison and report several relevant changes, including the new hot-meals counter, coffee bar and takeaway section, salad bar, recycling bins, and outdoor seating with a barbecue. You also note that the kitchen and toilets remain. However, some key details are misread or unclear: the kitchen is in the upper-left, not the “top right,” and the earlier layout has two staff dining rooms, not three cabins. The overview is also limited; it would be clearer to state that the redesign adds food-service options and expands seating outdoors while retaining the central seating area and toilets. A few changes, such as the new southern doors and the position of the barbecue, need more precise reporting.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic chronological structure, moving from the former café to its current layout, and paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages. Some linking expressions, such as “Initially” and “Consequently,” signal the sequence. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several features are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences. Phrases such as “At the right corner of the wholr table and chairs area” do not make the location clear, and “now same as” is repeated without specifying what remains unchanged. Organise the description by areas—for example, the north and west sides, the central space, then the exterior—and use clear references to connect each comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to describing a plan, including “serving area,” “staff dining rooms,” “outdoor seating area,” and “recycling bins.” However, the range is limited and many word choices or spellings make the description difficult to understand, such as “eligate,” “cafetaria,” “issalaad bae,” and “recyclling.” Several evaluative words, including “beautiful,” “graceful,” and “beneficial,” are not useful for objectively reporting a layout. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “the down the whole area.” Use precise location and change vocabulary instead, and check spelling carefully. This would make the information more accurate and easier for the reader to interpret.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to combine information using longer sentences, but control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make relationships between features unclear. For example, “the cafe before the designed looks like so simply” has an incomplete and faulty structure, while “the whole area of the cafe which consist” has a relative clause and subject–verb agreement problem. Tense and verb forms also shift, as in “now today when the cafe has redesigned, looking so eligate.” Punctuation is often missing after introductory phrases, and several sentences run together. Practise accurate simple present and past forms for describing plans, then add controlled comparisons using structures such as “whereas” and “while.”
