Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad contrast between the original café and its redesigned version, and mention several genuine additions, including the salad bar, recycling bins and outdoor seating. However, the report only partly describes the plans: it does not clearly explain that the staff dining rooms became the takeaway and coffee-bar sections, that the toilets remained in place, or that new doors connect the café to the outdoor area. The overview is also unclear—“new shape” is not an accurate summary, since the main indoor layout remains broadly similar. Some details, such as the barbecue, are reported as menu items rather than as an outdoor area. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons of what stayed, changed and was added would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an opening, an attempted overview and two further paragraphs, so there is some basic organisation. It also uses linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast” and “Moreover.” However, the progression is difficult to follow because the paragraphs do not consistently group features by location or by type of change. The third paragraph mixes the serving area, seating, bin, toilets and staff rooms, while the final paragraph lists additions without explaining their positions or relationship to the original plan. Some connectors are used awkwardly, and references such as “here” and “they” are not always clear. Organise the report into a concise overview followed by indoor changes and outdoor additions, using clear comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to describing a redesign, including “facilities,” “recycling bins,” “outdoor seating” and “serving area.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled choices make the description harder to understand: “renowation,” “liiks,” “fascilities,” “bine” and “toilate.” Some expressions are also unsuitable for a plan description, such as “more facinating” and “delicious meals”; these add opinion rather than report the layout. “Maximum area” and “minimum place” do not clearly describe the relative size or use of spaces. Build a reliable set of terms for map changes—such as “replaced by,” “converted into,” “retained” and “added”—and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to combine ideas using clauses and contrast, for example “However, now that cafe have…” and “In contrast, there are added…,” but control is weak and many sentences contain errors that make relationships unclear. Examples include “a cafe that redesine,” “that cafe have,” and “there are added some more fascilities”; these show problems with verb forms, agreement and sentence construction. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “a some rooms” and “tables and chaires.” The response relies heavily on long, loosely connected sentences, with punctuation that does not reliably separate ideas. Practise writing shorter, accurate sentences first, then add controlled comparisons using forms such as “The staff rooms were replaced by…” and “The toilets remained…”
