Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main purpose of the plans and describe several important changes, including the kitchen remaining in place, the staff dining rooms becoming a takeaway area and coffee bar, and the addition of a salad bar and outdoor seating. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the old bin was on the eastern wall, not the left wall; the outdoor area has four tables, not five; and the barbecue is to the south-west of the building, not at the right wall. The overview that the redesign improved the café is relevant but general. To make the report more complete, describe the recycling bins replacing the single bin and note that the toilets and central seating area remain.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall sequence: it first describes the former layout and then explains the current one. This makes the comparison easy to follow, and phrases such as “remained at the same place” and “were replaced by” help connect the two plans. The paragraphing also separates the two stages. However, the opening overview is not clearly distinguished from the detailed description, and some links between details feel abrupt, particularly the move from the indoor changes to outdoor seating. A few sentences run together because punctuation and spacing are inconsistent. Use a more deliberate overview followed by organised paragraphs, and group related changes—for example, indoor facilities together and outdoor additions together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “serving area,” “staff dining rooms,” “counter,” “salad bar,” and “outdoor sitting.” Phrases such as “were replaced by” and “remained at the same place” also communicate change and continuity. However, spelling errors are noticeable, including “illutarate,” “collage,” “conjusted,” and “custmers,” and some choices are imprecise or informal. “Setup” is repeated, while “sitting” is less suitable than “seating” for an area with tables. Build a more accurate range of map-description language, such as “located,” “converted into,” and “added along the southern side,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including “Kitchen remained at the same place but the counter…” and “The staff dining rooms were replaced by…”. These structures allow you to compare the plans, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, some errors in articles, agreement, tense, and sentence boundaries remain. For example, “the cafe before redesign contain” needs a past-tense verb, and “a toilet is located” does not match the past description. The opening phrase “illustrate that how” also has an incorrect clause structure. Improve control by using consistent past tense for the former plan and present tense for the current one, and check articles and punctuation when joining clauses.
