Student answer (Band 5.0)

The diagrams shows the college cafe before and after renovation, if we talk about the before design of cafe it is very old design and very absurd while if we have look of after renovation it have a stable seating with indoor and out door seating for the customers. In before re designed cafe the staff has the pros for their own and personal dining room but the thing in after renovation is that it have more facilitized cabind comapred to before renovation the recycling bins are becomes larger than before the kitchen is designed large it have the seperate lay for hot meals while in before renovation it is consists of kitchen as well as for serving area but later cafe overcomes the impact that seems stable and priotized .Today cafe consists of salad bar and barbecue stations as well which seem looked elegant and fantastic. The outdoor setting gives a beautifull scenery of college if have.finally the conclusion remain in the favour of cafe today.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad change from the café before renovation to its current form, and you mention several relevant features, including the staff dining rooms, hot meals, salad bar, barbecue and outdoor seating. However, the comparison is only partly accurate and developed: the kitchen is described as “designed large,” and the recycling bins as “larger,” although the plans show no such size changes. The response also misses important clear changes, such as the new takeaway-food and coffee-bar sections, the southern doors, and the fact that the toilets and central seating remain. Some comments, such as calling the old design “absurd” and the new one “elegant,” are subjective rather than a factual summary. Select the main changes and describe their locations precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic before-and-after sequence, signalled by phrases such as “before renovation,” “after renovation,” and “Today,” so the reader can recognise the topic. However, the response is presented as one long, crowded paragraph, with several ideas joined into a single sentence. The progression is difficult to follow, particularly in the section beginning “In before re designed cafe,” where staff rooms, bins, the kitchen and serving area are combined without clear transitions. The conclusion repeats a general preference rather than summarising the main changes. Organise the report into a brief overview and separate paragraphs for the interior changes and the new outdoor area; use clear links between each comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt some task-related vocabulary, including “staff dining room,” “recycling bins,” “salad bar,” and “outdoor seating,” which helps convey several features. However, the range is limited and many choices are inaccurate or informal, making parts of the description hard to interpret. For example, “facilitized cabind” does not clearly identify a feature, while “stable seating” and “the pros for their own” are not suitable descriptions of the plans. Spelling and word-form problems such as “beautifull,” “seperate,” and “priotized” also reduce clarity. Use the labels shown in the plans and practise precise location and change vocabulary, such as “was replaced by,” “remained,” and “was added.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect ideas using clauses and time references, but sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, which sometimes obscures the intended meaning. The opening, “The diagrams shows,” has subject–verb disagreement, and “it have” recurs instead of the correct verb form. Articles and prepositions are also frequently missing or misplaced, as in “before re designed cafe” and “if we have look of after renovation.” Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, especially the long sentence beginning “In before re designed cafe.” These patterns show limited control of both simple and more complex structures. Build shorter, complete sentences first, then check agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries.
