Student answer (Band 5.0)

The process design illustrates the college cafe before it was renew and how it looks now.

Overall, cafe system is the main part of our diagram. In the process we have many to discuss the system of cafe how it looks before redesign in the process of kitchen, in many areas, like serving area where we need all type of food and drink. Although, there staff dining roomes converted into take away food or cafe bar. we discuss manu changes of cafe in digram, In past or nowdays what changes develope.

Looking at the table more closely we see different parts in cafe before redesign. First of all, we entered in the kitchen where we serve all kinds of foods snd drinks. If we going on into other side of kitchen we aslo a staff dining rooms where are we looks tabels and chairs for staff. and the front of big hall we use toilts and bin.

Turning to the cafe today we see many changes in place like kitchen and hot meals and take away food and coffee bar, Nowdays, we also use salad bar in cafe, or many things added recently, barbecue and outdoor seating, but tables and chairs and toilets are in same place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad contrast between the original café and its redesigned version, including the new take-away and coffee-bar sections, salad bar, barbecue and outdoor seating. You also note that the kitchen, toilets and central tables and chairs remain. However, the overview is unclear: “cafe system is the main part” does not summarise the main changes, and several details are inaccurate or difficult to interpret. For example, the original serving area is described as where “we need all type of food and drink,” rather than explaining that it was replaced by a hot-meals counter. The staff dining rooms are not clearly located along the north wall, and the bin’s replacement by recycling bins is omitted. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and descriptions of the café before and after redesign. Phrases such as “Looking at the table more closely” and “Turning to the cafe today” signal a change of focus. However, progression is weakened by unclear or repetitive sentences, especially the overview, which moves between several ideas without establishing their relationships. Connectors such as “Although” and “or” are sometimes used inaccurately, and the repeated references to “we” do not help the reader follow the plan. Organise the details by location or by what changed and what stayed the same, and use clear linking phrases to show those comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the plans, including “kitchen,” “serving area,” “staff dining rooms,” “salad bar” and “outdoor seating.” This gives the response a basic range of task-related terms. However, vocabulary is often imprecise or repetitive, and several expressions make the meaning difficult to understand, such as “cafe system,” “front of big hall” and “many things added recently.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “toilts,” “digram,” “roomes” and “develope.” Use standard plan-description language such as “located,” “replaced,” “remained” and “was added,” and check spelling carefully. More precise terms would help distinguish the café’s features and changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast with “Although” and a time comparison beginning “Turning to the cafe today.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “before it was renew,” “If we going on into other side,” and “where are we looks tabels and chairs,” which show problems with verb forms, word order and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “we discuss manu changes of cafe in digram, In past or nowdays.” Aim first for accurate, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb. Then practise combining them using correct past and present forms, articles and conjunctions.
